Hitachi Transport System, Ltd. is pleased to announce that we have become the first Japanese logistics company to be rated "A-(A minus)" in the leadership level of the Climate Change Report 2020 by CDP, an international environmental non-profit organization, for its outstanding efforts and information disclosure.
The HTS Group is fully aware of the importance of achieving the SDGs, the universal goals for the international community toward 2030. We developed the medium-to-long-term environmental targets 2030/2050 for the Group in reference to the global CO2 reduction targets set by the Paris Agreement and the TCFD guidance, etc. issued by the Japanese government with the aim of contributing to the realization of sustainable society required of global companies. In order to achieve this goal, we are to enhance green logistics including collaborative logistics and modal shift and promoting “business activities with less environmental load” together with our partner companies.
The HTS group, including the board of directors, have been strengthened our management, have considered climate-related risks and opportunities at short, medium, and long term perspectives on business with estimated financial impact, have executed business strategy according to importance. In addition to considering it as important matters on business strategies, we believe it was highly evaluated in terms of setting goals at each period, actions, and transparency on reports.
CDP is one of the world's leading indicators of corporate value which is an initiative by global institutional investors to require companies to disclose their environmental strategies and greenhouse gas measures. It is scored in 13 categories, including corporate governance, risk and opportunity, business strategy, and goals and performance, on an eight-point scale from the highest of "A" to the lowest of "D-".
